Obituary of Florence 'Annette' Moar
Florence “Annette” MacDonald Moar
1956 - 2025
Port Hawkesbury, NS
I lost my battle with ovarian cancer on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at home with my family by my side.
I was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia on June 20,1956 to Bruce & Hilda MacDonald. I married my high school sweetheart and best friend Chuck Moar on December 23,1977 and together we raised two wonderful children Joey (Chloe, Carter, Sophie) Dartmouth and Charlee Jillian (Will) Forbrigger (Michael, Grant and John) Bedford, who became great parents and role models for their children.
I worked in Administration for over 40 years with SCIDA, ECBC/ACOA where I made many lasting friendships. After retirement I loved working in my flower and vegetable gardens, I found peace and solace and loved to share it with my neighbours and friends. After my diagnosis I tried to live life to the fullest taking in all that life had to offer. I appreciated life and I tried to be good to people and share in their happiness and sadness, everyone needs someone.
I was blessed to have my two sisters and their husbands Teri (Mark) Sherman (sister-in-law) and Karen (Almon) Chisholm, my childhood friend. You were there for every event in my life and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks for all the walks, talks, laughs and cries and just being there for me. Friends like you don't happen everyday, and I was so lucky to have you both.
To Chuck, Joey, Charlee, Will and my beautiful grandchildren, you journeyed this cancer diagnosis and treatment not once but twice and with such love and devotion. It was challenging but we were all there for each other. My grandson would also say “Just Push Through It Gramma”.
I love you all dearly and will forever have you in my heart. I hope your lives are long and full of love, happiness and health. I am so proud of how you all directed your lives with love, family and life experiences. I am confident you will all do well in life with the values you have instilled in your children.
To my wonderful neighbours and friends near and far who were there for me during my battle with cancer you know who you are. You were my cheerleaders and you kept my spirits up when times were tough, you are the best. It strengthened our neighbourhood; we all look out for each other and we truly have the best neighbours and friends.
I had a deep commitment as a Catholic and I saw the value in community within my Church with all the people who supported me in prayer, smiles, hugs and just being there for me. I considered it my Circle of Friends within my church, community and neighbourhood who were there for me in every big or small way. Thank you.
I was predeceased by my parents, Hilda and Bruce MacDonald; brother, Arnold; sister, Veronica (Ritcey) and my in-laws, Ken & Theresa Moar and brothers-in-law, David and Scott Moar.
Thank you to Dr. Karla Willows, Sarah and her team at the QE ll, you went the extra mile for me and I am so grateful that you gave me more time. Additional thanks to the Oncology Department in Antigonish and Heather Brander for you are an angel from heaven. Also the Palliative Care Group, Dr. Gillis, Kyla, Lesley and Mallory for their compassion, dignity and grace.
Don't cry for me, I had a good life; I loved and was dearly loved especially by my immediate family and friends. I'll be waiting for you on the other side, be good to one another, I'll never be far away.
In lieu of flowers if you so choose donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Ovarian Research, they do great work; Cathy's Place - Cancer Resource Centre, St. Martha's Hospital or Strait Richmond Palliative Care.
