Obituary of Norman Henry Borden
BORDEN, Norman Henry - Mulgrave, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Norman was known as a man with a big smile and an even bigger heart. He enjoyed working around the house, cleaning, fixing things and making sure things were always neat and tidy. He really enjoyed making things out of nothing and loved showing others the fruits of his labour. Many of the things he made had a religious theme because Norman knew the Lord and he wanted to pay respect to God and all that the Lord had given him.
Norman was also a music man. He had a collection of LP records, CD’s and cassette tapes that go back for many years and his great love was for country music. The music he enjoyed was simple because Norman was a simple man.
During some of the summer months Norman could be found down by the dock with his rod and reel hoping to snag a big one. But if he didn’t catch anything he was still happy because he just enjoyed the peace and tranquility that fishing brought. Again, the simplicity of fishing is what Norman longed for.
Having lived in Montreal for many years, Norman and his late wife Leona, moved and settled in Havre Boucher and then after a few years settled in the trailer court here in Mulgrave. Getting away from the big city of Montreal is what he and Leona always wanted, and they were content and
happy when they found their forever home.
As the years went on and Leona started to develop some health issues things became a little more difficult because Norman had some health issues of his own. But after Leona passed away Norman was intent to continue living on his own with their faithful dog Benji. He missed Leona daily and was looking forward to the day when he could be reunited with her. And so, that time has come as we honour Norman’s life today.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m. from the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
