MacIver, Gordon -89, Gillis Cove, died Friday, October 10, 2008, at home very peacefully on his “beloved hill”. Born in Gillis Cove, Inverness Co., he was a son of the late John Eli and Annie Margaret (MacIver) MacIver.
Gordon was a lumberman, fisherman, avid hunter, and an adherent of Orangedale Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Ena (MacCalder), daughter Alexis (Jerry) Gerrits, Lloydminster, SK; son William (Mary Ann), North River Bridge; grandchildren Joseph, Joshua, Jerri Lynn Gerrits, Courtney MacIver, Marlee Boone, Michael and Owen Matheson, several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Gordon was predeceased by sisters, Marion (Alfred) Wright, Margaret (Ed) Delaney, Helen (David) Livingston, Florence (Willie) Roberts, brothers, Pte. William and Edward in infancy.
Visitation will be 2-9 pm Monday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday in Orangedale Presbyterian Church, Rev. Lloyd Murdock officiating. Burial will be in Gillis Cove Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to the Orangedale Presbyterian Church.
