MATTHEWS, Minnie Edith - 92, Guysborough, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008, in Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Born in Crossroads, Country Harbour, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late John W. and Tena (White) Smith. Minnie was a homemaker and a member of Wesley United Church, Guysborough and the UCW. She is survived by daughter, Lorraine Torrey, Boylston; daughter-in-law, Bertha Chisholm, North Ogden; son, Thomas (Joan) Chisholm, Port Shoreham; 18 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; nine great great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by first husband, James D. Chisholm; second husband, William Matthews; son, Fred; sisters, Elsie, Thirza, and one in infancy; brothers, Chalmers, MacKay, Thomas, Lewis, and Bruce. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in Wesley United Church, Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Guysborough. Memorial donations may be made to the Wesley United Church Building Fund or Milford Haven Home for Special Care.
