SMITH, Hazel Maude - 90, Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, on Monday, March 24, 2008. Born in Cole Harbour, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Bessie (Dort) Myers. She lived most of her married life on Granville Street in Port Hawkesbury, residing lately in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Hazel will be remembered by her loving family for her unwavering love, support and dedication. She delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury, and a lifetime member of St. Mark's UCW. She is survived by her son, Roy (Mary); daughter, Sharon (Bernie) McLean, Port Hawkesbury; daughter-in-law, Rose (Doug) Begg, Dundee; grandchildren, Dawn (Billy) McGrath, Halifax; Dale Smith, MacKenzie, B.C.; Sheri (Tony) Milheron, Dartmouth; Michael (Erica) Smith, San Jose, Calif.; Lori and David Smith, Todd, Amber (Chris), Tyler and Troy McLean, Port Hawkesbury; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Feutrell, Kingston, Ont.; brother-in-law, Chester Smith, Halifax; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry; son, Sonny; sisters, Hattie, Viola, Edith, and Leona; a brother in infancy.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Mark's United Church, Rev. Sheldon LeGrow officiating. Burial in Southbrook Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark's United Church, Regional Occupational Centre or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
