SWAIN, Ann Patricia, "Patsy" - Port Hastings, It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ann Patricia Swain, "Patsy" in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston on Sunday, November 2, 2008. Patsy was very well known throughout the area for her years and years of volunteer work for such groups as Point Tupper and Port Hastings Historical Societies, both St. David’s and St. Mark’s United Church groups, The Girl Guides of Canada, The Richmond Villa and many, many more. As a result she received the "Volunteer of the Year Award" numerous times. Born December 29, 1933 in Port Hawkesbury, she was the daughter of the late Norman (Noddie) and Louise (Warner) MacIntyre. She is survived by her daughter, Myrta, son-in-law Tom; grandchildren. Kaylin and Keegan Barell, Zurich, Switzerland; siblings, Peter (Anna) MacIntyre, Marion Gillis, Roger (Maureen) MacIntyre, Mary Lou (Stuart) Thow, Helen McNamara and many nephews, nieces and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy Swain; son, Bain Grant and brothers, Hughie John and Red Jim MacIntyre.
Visitation 2–9 p.m., Thursday, November 6 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 7, St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings, Rev. Sheldon LeGrow officiating. Burial at Southbrook Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral services are under the direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. The family requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.
