SNOW, Pleman - 82, Port Hawkesbury, died Friday, November 21, 2008, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, surrounded by friends and family. Born in Wings Point, Gander Bay, N.L., on May 12, 1926, he was a son of the late James and Ida Ann (Fancy) Snow.
He was a loving Dad and a caring grandfather who enjoyed to cook and going fishing when he was able. Pleman was a retired carpenter, having worked in the construction industry for many years. Starting work at a very young age on the Exploits River Log Drive, he then worked at Bowaters Pulp Mill in Corner Brook, N.L., and then went on to Nova Scotia where he worked at carpentry before buying and operating a successful retail business. Retiring to Truro while still doing some carpentry (building his last house in 1986), he travelled the United States extensively during his retirement. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten by his loving wife of 62 years, Olive (Cotter); daughters, Mamie (Gordie) Burns, Monastery; June (Mickey) Hayes, Wolfville; Shirley (Remi Theriault), Digby; Karen (Nick) Doupe, Truro; Denise Dickie, Rothesay, N.B.; Lynn (Raymond Delaney), Port Hawkesbury; Sandra (Rick) Theriault, Truro; son, Randy (Janet) Snow, MacIntyre Lake; sister, Ruby (George) LaFosse, Port Hawkesbury; brother, Josiah (Eva), Campbellton, N.L.; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sons, Woodrow in infancy, and Henry; brothers, Eldred, Norman, Ward; sisters, Violet and Janet.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Port Hawkesbury, Rev. Susan Best officiating. Burial in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Lung Association of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
