Stanton, Hazel Loretta, 77, Mulgrave - It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of our mother, Hazel (England) Stanton, on Monday September 14, 2009 at the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Hazel was born on May 13, 1932 in Sand Point, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lydia (Hadley) England. As a young woman she moved to Mulgrave, and worked at the Mulgrave branch of the Royal Bank of Canada. She met and married her dance partner for life, Gerald Stanton in 1955. Besides being a wife, mother and true friend, she was an avid golfer, beautiful seamstress, gardener, lover of song and dance and most of all a treasured grandmother. She was the co-director of the Junior Choir at St. Lawrence Church for many years and served on the parish council. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Gerry; and is survived by son, Bobby (Debbie), East Tracadie; Lynn, Bedford; Kathy (Rick Hearn) and Tracey (Paul Knott) both of Mulgrave. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Michael and Kyle Hearn, Bryce and Danielle Knott and Josée and Céline Hache. She is also survived by her sisters, Florence Hadley, Hadleyville; Ada (John) Durant, Edna Quenneville, both of Hamilton, Ontario; Phyllis Cameron, Truro; brothers, Berkley (Clementine), Wolfville; Winston (Grace), Troy and Dave (Iona) Port Hawkesbury; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Rudy) Hanusiak, Fredericton, New Brunswick and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Ernest, Tom, Harry, Francis; sister, Marie Diggins, three siblings in infancy and one grandchild. With the support of loving caregivers we were able to keep mom home for an extended period, Joyce Hearn, Kathy Burbidge and Shirley Haywood will forever be a part of our family. In spite of her never allowing Dad to have a dog, Mom was also a nannie to, Scruffy, Skye and Trooper. Visitation will be held Wednesday and Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., at the Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial will take place in St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery.
