SMITH, Florence Philena "Lena" — 91, Orangedale, passed away peacefully in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, with her family by her side. Born in Southside River Denys, Inverness Co., she was a daughter of the late Laughlin and Sarah (MacKillop) MacLean. Lena will be sadly missed by all those who knew her. She was a member of Orangedale United Church and the UCW. She is survived by son, Bruce (Mary), Orangedale; daughter, Eileen Archibald, Lower Sackville; sister-in-law, Sarah MacLean, Sydney; grandchildren, Ann Frances, Garnet, Brittany, Kyle, Christopher and Katie; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by husband, Garnet; sisters, Mary, Ruth and Margaret; brothers, Woody, Roddie and Kenneth; son-in-law, Brian Archibald. A special thank you is extended to Home Care Nova Scotia and to her special friend Irene Chisholm. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Orangedale United Church, Rev. Janet Blois officiating. Burial in Malagawatch Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, Orangedale United Church or Malagawatch Cemetery.
