RYAN, Lorraine Mary — 85, Port Hawkesbury, surrounded by family, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010, in the Palliative care unit of Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Halifax on December 5, 1924, she was a daughter of the late John and Anne (Ryan) Hodder. Lorraine is survived by sons, Terry (Marilyn), West Bay Marshes; Dave (Phyllis) and Shawn (Dana); daughter, Paula (Archie) MacLachlan, all of Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Garth, Tanya, Shane, Nikki, Aaron, Brianna, Jessie, Patrick, Benjamin and Nicholas; great grandson, John. Also surviving are brothers, Harry (Yvonne), Stephenville, N.L.; Maxwell (Patsy), West Bay Centre, N.L.; Edward, Kingston, Ont., and Bernard (Betty) London, Ont., and sister, Audrey (Ken) O'Quinn, West Bay, N.L., and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Francis; son, Carmen; brother, Donald and sister, Marguerite. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, with a vigil service at 2 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, January 18, in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Lorraine's memory to Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative Care Society, Multiple Sclerosis of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
