Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Proctor, Anna Sophia … 69, Lower River Inhabitants. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving wife and mother Anna Sophia Proctor. She died peacefully in Strait Richmond Hospital on Aug 14, 2008 surrounded by her loving family.
Her pain and suffering is now over and she is an anewed spirit in Christ. She was born August 30, 1938 and raised in Port Malcolm, NS. She was the eldest of the 8 children to the late Wallace and Valetta Malcolm. At the age of 17 she moved to Massachusetts where she met her soul mate and knew instantly they would be married. She married Bob Proctor in 1956. After bearing 9 children, she and Bob returned back to Canada in 1975. They resided in Lower River for the past 33 years. Two years ago, together with their family and friends, they celebrated a memorable 50th anniversary. She spent most of her life working with homecare in group homes and mentally challenged facilities where she took extreme pleasure in looking after others. With a large family she spent all of her life focusing on everyone but herself and never once complained. She fully believed in the philosophy that it is “better to give than receive” and she did just that. You would often see her in the rocking chair knitting but most of all she loved a night out, whether it be at Bingo or the Casino, but to be honest, when the car was going she was always ready, regardless where it was to take her.
She is survived by the love of her life: Bob, her 8 children; Maureen, Bob Jr., Fred, Cheryl, Kenny, Patty, Linda and Kim, 18 grandchildren; Bobby and Russell Wagner, Bobby Proctor lll, Gerard &Dwayne Proctor and Crystal Moore, Fred and Holly Proctor, Amanda & Tasha Samson, Marissa & Kenny Proctor, Jessica & Wesley Peeples, Devan and Johnathan Chancey and Kaitlin & Brianna Samson and 4 great-grandchildren Carmen, Kayla, JJ and Lily, 3 sisters; Carolyn Cormier, Betty Ryan and Linda Malcolm and 1 brother; Eddie Malcolm. She is predeceased by her daughter Debbie, whom we know will be awaiting for her as she arrives home. She is also preceded in death by her 3 brothers Alex, Gerard and Freddy and both parents, Wallace and Valetta. As a deeply devoted and faithful Catholic, she was never scared of what was to come always saying “we all have a time”. We know Jesus has greeted her with loving open arms. Visitation will take place on Sunday, August 17th, 2008 at Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home in Port Hawkesbury at 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Francis de Sales Parish in Lower River, Monday Aug 18, 2008 at 11:00AM with Father Allan MacPhie. Burial at a late date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis de Sales Building Fund or the Charity of your choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
