Please share a memory of Marian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
PEART, Marian Lucy "Edith"— 77, Guysborough, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones, Friday, May 29, 2009. Born in Detroit, Mich., raised in Grass Cove, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of Daniel and Marian (Peterson) MacNeill.
Edith lived her life with a quiet dignity, always going where she was needed and working behind the scenes to help people. Edith started her nursing career in North Sydney and after she graduated at the top of her class she took a placement in the Aberdeen Hospital for two months. It was through fate that she came to Guysborough to help relieve the nursing staff here and she continued to touch hearts and lives through her work in Guysborough until she was 75. Edith was always known for her sense of humor, positive attitude and the determination to make her dreams reality. She was a great contributor to the community through her nursing with her late night ambulance trips and attending to trauma situations, being involved in the school board and tending to people's pets. Through it all she still found time to spend with family and friends, bake, cook, quilting and gardening.
She is survived by son, Bill (Donna), Trenton; daughters, Bonnie, Guysborough; Velvet, Truro; Karen, Halifax; and Kailyn, Fredericton; her brothers, Donald (Bertha), Troy; William (Georgette) Orleans; Douglas (Pat) Sarnia; Lawrence (Linda) Trenton; Edward (Lyn) Riverview; sister, Dolores O'Connor, Truro; and grandson Ahmed Al-Mahamid. She is predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Ambrose Peart, and brothers Wallace and Robert MacNeill; brother-in-law, Bud O'Connor.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, in her memory donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Society Atlantic Division and Autism Canada. There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough on Thursday, June 4, at 11 a.m. with Father Jonathan Nweke officiating. Burial to follow at St. Ann's Cemetery. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
