PEARO, Samuel Jones — 86, Kewstoke, Inv. Co. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Sam Pearo, 86, of Kewstoke, Inv. Co. Sam passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Alder Point, he was a son of the late Samuel and Daisy (Hutchins) Pearo. He was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh, Men's AOTS Brotherhood, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 123, Whycocomagh and a veteran of the Second World War. Sam came to Kewstoke at the age of seven and was raised on the Ferguson farm by Marcella Ferguson. He became a well- known carpenter and cabinet maker until he retired after which he devoted his time to caring for his loving wife. He enjoyed cooking large family dinners and working in his shop. He will be sadly missed and is survived by his children, Shirley (Frankie) Chandler, Patsy (Donald) MacDonald, Diane (Gordon) Rouse, Wilma (Ross) Matheson, Margie Ellis, Johnny (Sharon) Pearo, Samuel (Linda) Pearo, Sheldon (Tonya) Pearo, Melody (Kenneth) Ferguson; 24 grandchildren; 26 great- grandchildren; sisters, Ella (Fraser) Oakley and Mae (Eric) Matheson. He will be missed by his little companion Hobo. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Margaret "Peggy" (Nock); daughter, Elaine Campbell; grandson, Brian Keith Rouse; son-in-law, Gary Ellis; brothers, Harold, George, Robert, Danny and sister, Beatrice.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 2-9 p.m. Monday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Stewart United Church, with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations in Sam's memory may be made to Stewartdale Cemetery, Victoria County Memorial Hospital, or a charity of your choice. We the family, would like to thank his homecare workers, Dr.'s Genge and Chow and all the staff of Victoria County Memorial Hospital for all your compassion and care.
