NICHOLSON, Neville Hadley — 71, with deep sadness we the family of Neville Nicholson of Mulgrave, wishes to inform you of his passing on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, after a lengthy illness in R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Born in Antigonish on October 3, 1938, he was a son of May (Hadley) Nicholson and the late Norman Nicholson (of Mulgrave). He was raised in Mulgrave most of his life, however went to school and worked for a time in Sydney. Through the years he worked at Acadia Fisheries, Trenton Steel and Halifax Shipyards. Neville was a lifelong member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Mulgrave, taking part as warden for many years. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Cambrai Branch 37, Mulgrave. He was a fond lover of Scottish and old-time country music and curling was his passion. He was a firm believer in donating blood and did so for 25 years as well he was an advocate for the Canadian Diabetes Association, receiving Certificates of appreciation from both. Left to mourn his loss are his mother, May; sisters, Marjorie (Ernie) Weeks, Mildred (Antoine) Levangie and Lorraine (Fred) Boers, all of Mulgrave; brothers, Norman (Bonnie), Maine; Charles (Sue), Ontario; Edgar (Carolyn), Linwood; nephews, Nelson, Danny, Travis, Aaron, Robert, Adam, Jason and Christopher; nieces, Sonya, Melissa, Christine and Carli. He was predeceased by his father, Norman; niece, Lisa Weeks and grand-niece, Amanda Nicholson.
Cremation has taken place and it was Neville's wish that there be no visitation. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Mulgrave. A celebration of Neville's life will take place 3 p.m., Saturday from St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Mulgrave with Rev. Susan Best officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. The family wishes to take this opportunity to give a heartfelt thank you to all Neville's caregivers at R.K. Nursing Home, Antigonish and Dr. Gallivan for his kind and compassionate care. A special thank you to Daphne Ayre who became a special part of our family giving us years of devoted homecare.
