Morrison, Annie Mae (MacKay) - 85, Whycocomagh, died peacefully surround by her family, Friday, May 29, 2009, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born in Dunakin, Inverness Co., she was a daughter of the late John Dan and Mary (Buchanan) MacKay.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and beloved grandmother. Annie was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh and a life member of the United Church Women. She was a member of Dr. Gordon MacLeod Chapter 37 OES of Whycocomagh. Annie was active volunteer and community member giving many hours to various community endeavours. In 1997, she was recognized by Municipality of Inverness for her volunteer contribution. Hospitality was her trademark – her home warm and welcoming to all.
She is survived by Daughter Janice (Dr. Gerald) MacKean, Halifax; sons Kevin (Heather), Bridgewater; Leslie (Tena), Whycocomagh; sisters, Laura (Morrison) MacInnis, Halifax; Catherine Gillis, New Glasgow; Edna MacLeod, Sussex, N.B.; Patricia (Thomas) MacLeod, Blues Mills; brothers, Kenneth (Shirley), Hamilton, Ont.; Morrison (Emily), Whycocomagh; grandchildren, Susan (Mark), Julie, Erin, Andrew, David, Angela, Katie, Mallory and Alex also numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband John; sister, Johanna MacDonald; brothers, Earl, Norman, Winston, D.J., Stanley and John William "Willie".
Visitation will be 2-9pm Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh with a OES Service at 7 pm. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Stewart United Church with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Donations in memory of Annie may be made to the Stewartdale Cemetery.
