MacLENNAN, Arlene F. — 82, Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, formerly of River Denys, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Born in River Denys, she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie (MacLean) MacPhail. She was an elder of Forbes United Church; a founding member of the auxiliary of the Valley Mills and District Volunteer Fire Department; Treasurer of Inverness Guysborough Presbytery for over 20 years. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, caring spirit, and willingness to help others. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lester; daughters, Carol (Keith) Urquhart, Wilburn; Beth (Mike) Zorychta, Dartmouth; son, John (Lynne) MacLennan, Port Hood; granddaughters, Shannon, Jenna and Ella MacLennan. She was predeceased by her brother, Jerry. Visitation will be held Monday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m Tuesday in Forbes United Church, River Denys with Rev. Janet Blois officiating. Burial in Fir Grove Cemetery at a later date. A special thank you is extended to the staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for their loving care and compassion. Family flowers only, please. Memorial donations in memory of Arlene may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
