LANDRY, Rita Maria - 86, River Bourgeois. It is with profound grief that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. She was born November 14, 1920, one of 11 children to Charlie and Vina (Landry) Richard of River Bourgeois.
Rita was a devout Catholic, living her faith through her generous spirit, supporting many charities, especially those related to the under privileged. Mom was a charter member of 54 years in the Catholic Women's League and a charter member of Branch 47 Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she worked tirelessly with her friends. Mom was also a member of the River Bourgeois 50 plus seniors club where she enjoyed weekly card games with her friends; also the Strait Richmond Hospital Auxiliary. Rita was a dedicated and devoted full-time mother where she inspired in her six children the love of sharing and doing for others. Rita is survived by children, Therese (Donnie) Pottie, Jeanette, both of River Bourgeois; Blaise (Gretchen), Baddeck; Lucille (Paul) Martell, St. Peters; sisters, Geraldine (Thomas) Amero, Plympton; Monica (Joe) Stone, River Bourgeois; brothers, Clarence, Halifax; John, St. Peters; Fabian, River Bourgeois; Leo and Anthony, Ontario. Grandmere, as she was affectionately known, was adored by her 12 grandchildren, Charline, Ronald, Craig, Chad, Danette, Tannis, Kyla, Julia, Deanna, Melanie, Amy, Johnathan, and great-grandchildren, Breanna, Kaleb, Jacob, Behnjamin, Jacob, Asher and Sihdney. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John, after 45 years of marriage; sons, George and Lloyd; two children in infancy; grandson, Mathieu; parents; brothers, Alfred, Egbert "Dick" and Martin.

Everett MacDow officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church building fund, Lung Association of Nova Scotia or charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, St. Peters. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com. The Angels said "Amazing Grace"
The Lord came down and touched her face,
He held her hand and whispered low,
Come with me Rita, it's time to go,
The Gates of Heaven opened wide,
And the angels lined up side by side,
A special gift was on her way,
The day God took our Mom away.
