LEON, Phyllis Cecila — 65, West L'Ardoise. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and wife on Sunday, January 24, 2010, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Halifax in 1944, she was a daughter of the late Ned and Margaret (Poirier) Pottie. Prior to her death, she lived in Toronto for 35 years working for Slyvania while raising her family, before returning back home in 1999. She enjoyed her weekly outings to bingo. She loved to crochet, knit and make crafts and she was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Fred Leon; daughters, Debbie (Eddie) Zelazko, Ontario; Cheryl (Andrew) Rode, Ontario; Janet Leon (Corey), Weymouth; Cindy Leon (Rob), Ontario; grandchildren, Michael Zelazko, Nicky Zelazko, Alexander Rode; brothers, Jackie (Jean) Pottie, L'Ardoise; David (Doris) Pottie, L'Ardoise; Donald (Diane) Pottie, St. Peter's; Nicky (Valerie) Pottie, L'Ardoise; sisters, Helen Courchene, L'Ardoise; Catherine (Wallace) Dollimount, Sydney; Sandra (John) Lavers, Prince Edward Island. She was predeceased by sister, Mary McInnis and brother, John Felix Pottie. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 28, in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, L'Ardoise, with Father Mariadoss Lourdusamy officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made in Phyllis' memory to a charity of one's choice.
