MacKENZIE, Clara Marie … 81, Guysborough, passed away Tuesday June, 3, 2008 (Peggy’s birthday), surrounded by her children Bruce, Ross, Grant and Kathryn. Born in Guysborough town, she was the eldest child and daughter of the late Howard and Gertrude (Jones) Shea. Her family moved to Pictou in 1943. She attended Pictou Academy and was involved in theatre and musicals. She married in 1952 and gave birth to a daughter Peggy in 1953. Clara and her husband were posted in various locations where they raised four more children. In 1966 they were able to move back to Pictou and purchase a property in Mom’s beloved Guysborough. Their young family enjoyed summers and vacations in “the Boondocks”. Clara started her own business, Milford Haven Cottages in 1974, which she independently operated. In 1979 Clara finally returned to Guysborough full time and has remained there since. She loved nothing more than her view of the Milford Haven from her front deck.
