MacKINNON, Martha – 91, Whycocomagh, Inv. Co., passed away peacefully with family by her side Wednesday August, 6, 2008 in Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck. Born in Kewstoke, Inv. Co., she was a daughter of the late George and Murdena (MacDonald) Ferguson. Martha had a kind heart and a gentle soul. She loved visits to her home from friends and family, who never left without “tea”. Martha had a great sense of humour which will be remembered by all who knew her. Martha was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh and the U.C.W. She is survived by son George (Diane), Lower Sackville; sisters Margaret (Duncan) MacKinnon, Rebecca (John) Carew, both of Dartmouth; brothers D.J. (Phyllis), Skye Glen, Peter (Florence), Whycocomagh; grandchildren Melody, Crystal, Pamela, Tricia, Kimberley, Shawn; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Martha was predeceased by her husband Kenneth MacKinnon, daughter Catherine “Ta” Campbell, sisters Catherine (John A.) MacLellan, Sarah (Donald John) Morrison, Annabelle (Carl) Betts, Florence (Peter L.) MacDonald, brothers Malcolm (Mabel), Dan Hughie (Greta), Alex in infancy.
Visitation will be 7-9pm Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11am Saturday in Stewart United Church with Rev. Anna Smith officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Stewartdale Cemetery Fund. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
