MacKAY, John William “Willie” - 71, River Denys, died Monday, September 15, 2008, at home. Born in Dunakin, Inverness Co., he was a son of the late John Dan and Mary (Buchanan) MacKay. Willie was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh. He worked as a woodsman most of his life. He is survived by sisters, Annie Morrison, Whycocomagh; Laura (Morrison) MacInnis, Halifax; Catherine Gillis, New Glasgow; Edna MacLeod, Sussex, N.B.; Patricia (Thomas) MacLeod, Blues Mills; brothers, Kenneth (Shirley), Hamilton, Ont.; Morrison (Emily), Whycocomagh; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Johanna MacDonald; brothers, Earl, Norman, Winston, D.J., Stanley. Visitation will be 2-9pm Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Stewart United Church with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating assisted by Rev. Janet Blois. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Donations in memory of Willie may be made to the Stewartdale Cemetery.
