KILEY, Michael Francis "Moe" — 62, Antigonish, formerly of New Glasgow and Canso, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, surrounded by his family. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Leo and Mary (MacIsaac) Kiley, and chosen son of the late Lillian and Howard Bond. Prior to retirement due to ill health, he had been employed with L. M. Landscaping and previously with Grassy Island Tavern and East Coast Hydraulic. In earlier years he played ball for the Thorburn Mohawks (1963-1965) and in 1999 was inducted into Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame and inducted into Nova Scotia Hall of Fame in 2001. Moe was an avid sports fan and a die hard Blue Jays fan who enjoyed the company of his family and friends. Surviving are his common-law wife, Marge, Antigonish; daughter, Heather (Jason) Launt, Tantallon; grandchildren, Brooklyn and Dawson; sisters, Muriel (Mike) and Georgina (Warren), Priestville; brothers, Fred (Helen), Antigonish; Roxy, Port Hawkesbury; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters, Annette and Dorothy. The family will receive visitors 2-4, 6-8 p.m. Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso and 12 -1:50 p.m. Saturday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Father Colin MacKinnon officiating. Interment will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Thorburn. Donations may be made in Moe's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso and direction of P.& K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
