JOHNSTON, John Edward Sr. … 56, Tatamagouche, Colchester Co., died Monday September, 29, 2008 in Q E II Health Sciences Centre Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Calgary, Ab., he was a son of the late Bill and Margaret (Fleming) Johnston. John was employed as a paramedic by E.M.C. Inc. He was a former member of Port Hawkesbury Lion’s Club and a former trainer for the Strait Pirates and Port Hood Bee’s Hockey Clubs. He is survived by his wife Scarnia (Garland); sons John Jr. (Krista Oliver), Bridgetown, Jason, Port Hawkesbury; sisters Heather (Donald) Broome, Ellerslie, P.E.I., Joyce Johnston, Port Hawkesbury, Nancy (Kevin) Stewart, New Glasgow; brothers Gordon (Freda), Judique, Kenny (Jeanie), Montaque, P.E.I.; grandchildren Nicholas, Lucas.
Visitation will be 7-9 pm Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 4 pm Saturday in St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury with Rev. Sheldon Le Grow officiating. Burial in St. David’s United Church Cemetery, Port Hastings.
