JOHNSTON, John Edward Sr. … 56, Tatamagouche, Colchester Co., died Monday September, 29, 2008 in Q E II Health Sciences Centre Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Calgary, Ab., he was a son of the late Bill and Margaret (Fleming) Johnston. John was employed as a paramedic by E.M.C. Inc. He was a former member of Port Hawkesbury Lion’s Club and a former trainer for the Strait Pirates and Port Hood Bee’s Hockey Clubs. He is survived by his wife Scarnia (Garland); sons John Jr. (Krista Oliver), Bridgetown, Jason, Port Hawkesbury; sisters Heather (Donald) Broome, Ellerslie, P.E.I., Joyce Johnston, Port Hawkesbury, Nancy (Kevin) Stewart, New Glasgow; brothers Gordon (Freda), Judique, Kenny (Jeanie), Montaque, P.E.I.; grandchildren Nicholas, Lucas. Visitation will be 7-9 pm Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 4 pm Saturday in St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury with Rev. Sheldon Le Grow officiating. Burial in St. David’s United Church Cemetery, Port Hastings. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to John Rossiter Memorial Fund. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
