HAWLEY, Alexander Bertrum, - 64, Port Hood, passed away peacefully to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 3, 2007, at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born May 3, 1943, he lived his entire life in Port Hood. Although he experienced health problems over the years he was able to overcome and carry on. The past several years he provided loving care for his mother and saw to her well-being. Alexander was an active member of St. Stephen’s United Church where he enjoyed greeting people and passing out church bulletins.
He is survived by his mother, Marjorie (Leadbetter) Hawley; brothers, Miller (Cathy), Aubrey (Marelyn), Port Hood, Edwin (Toronto), Warren (Judy) Toronto, one sister Adeline (Thomas) MacDonald, Port Hood, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Robert Hawley.
Visitation will be Monday, August 6 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, August 7 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.in Port Hood Community Funeral Home. Funeral service Wednesday, August 8, 2:00 p.m from St. Stephen's United Church, Port Hood, with Rev. Roger Moore and Pastor Pierre Chiasson officiating. Interment in Union Protestant Cemetery, Port Hood, following service. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen's United Church Building Fund. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
