KING, Leonard Roy - 82, Port Hastings, formerly of MacIntyre Lake, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, in Strait Richmond Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, January 10, 1926, he was a son of the late William and Sarah "Belle" (Antle) King. He was a member of First United Church, Louisbourg. Leonard was a member of Pipefitters Union Local 682, with construction jobs which took him to Ontario, New Brunswick, Labrador and across Nova Scotia. He worked on such projects as the Heavy Water Plants, Gulf Refinery and Sydney Steel. His first love was fishing and the Judith II saw him through many adventures, mostly off his beloved Louisbourg. He is survived by his loving wife, Myrtle (Beaver); son, Charles (Fiona), Cleveland; daughter, Brenda (Bob) MacEachern, Port Hastings; grandchildren, Cameron, Heather and Courtney MacEachern, and Nicole King; sister, Annie Mae MacInnis, Port Hawkesbury. He was predeceased by siblings, Edward, Samuel, Ananias, Lloyd, Michael, Cyneth and Pearl.
Visitation today 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 9:30-10:30 a.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Rev. Sheldon LeGrow officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial at a later date in South Brook Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury, St. Martha's Hospital Palliative Care or Strait Richmond Palliative Care.
