KEELING, Bennett R.B. -77, of Whycocomagh, died Saturday, November 29, 2008, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born in Lewis Mountain, Inverness Co., he was a son of the late George and Alice (Wareham) Keeling. In his earlier years, Bennett was a self-employed trucker hauling pulp for many years. He worked for W.D. MacAulay Trucking. He was a past road foreman for the Department of Transportation in Whycocomagh. He retired from the Whycocomagh Arena. He was a former member of Whycocomagh Volunteer Fire Department. One of the things Bennett really enjoyed was watching golf. He was an adherent of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Whycocomagh. He is survived by his loving wife, Florence (Fee); daughter, Benita, Halifax; sons, Rick (Corinne), Slave Lake, Alta.; Michael (Jesslyn), Skye Glen; Mark (Tanya), Mulgrave; sisters, Margaret MacPherson, Aberdeen; Pearl Campbell, Blue's Mills; Edith (Doug) MacDougall, Sydney; Lillian Morse, Braintree, Mass.; brothers, Edward (Beverley), Baddeck; Jimmy (Lenora), London, Ont.; grandchildren, Donald, John, Amanda, Clayton, Jordan, Riley and Sandy; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Agnes, Annie, Alice and Christina; brother, George; nephews, Ross Keeling, George Pettipas, Tony MacDonald and niece, Bertha Morse.
Visitation will be held 2-9 p.m. Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Adam Lees and Rev. Anna Smith officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. The family would like to convey a special thank you to Dr. Pillia, Dr. Bernie MacLean, nurses and staff of Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.
