KING, Edward Alexander “Eddie” - 85, Port Hawkesbury. It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Edward Alexander King. Eddie, as friends and family knew him, passed away in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, on Tuesday, February 10, 2009. Born in Lower River Inhabitants, Rich Co.; he was a son of the late Edward and Laura (Embree) King. Eddie was a retired C.N. R. employee, a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Port Hawkesbury. A veteran of the second World War, serving with the Royal Canadian Navy, and a long-standing member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annie (MacLean); sons, John Edward (Rose), Robbie, Sheldon (Sherry), Stephen (Lynn), Donnie (Jocelyn), Paul Allan, and Glenn (Donna); daughters, Judy (Vic) Snow and Deanna (Donnie) Deane. Eddie is also survived by his brothers, Leo (Marie), Jimmy (Helen), Walter (Florence) and Albert; sisters, Geraldine (Artie) Latimer; and Darlene (Buddy) MacLean; 16 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Patrick; brothers, Carl, Earl, Cecil and sister, Kaye Cotie.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery at a later date.
