Please share a memory of Nicole to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
King, Nicole Elizabeth “Niki” - Cleveland, Richmond Co.; It is with great sadness and grief that we announce the sudden passing of Nicole Elizabeth King, 16, Monday, April 20, 2009, daughter of Charles and Fiona (Briggs) King of Cleveland. Niki, to everyone, was a shining light in our lives and in our hearts and will remain so always. A grade 11 student at SAERC she excelled in school and in sports. Awarded a gold and silver ribbon by SAERC for academic achievements, she was also an All Star (2007 and 2008), also MVP at the midget volleyball provincials as well, standout midfielder for West Richmond Soccer Club. In the last year she started her first real job at Sobey’s, Port Hawkesbury, which she really enjoyed! Her smile lit up any room and we will smile when we remember it. In her short time she lived life to the fullest and there were few things she had not seen or accomplished. She was a daughter, cousin, granddaughter, niece, and friend we were all very proud of. She travelled far and wide, usually with her mother and friend at her side and made friends wherever she went.
Niki will be missed forever by her mother and father and her dogs, Maddie and Bailey; her grandfather David “Grampy” Briggs, Cleveland; her grandmother Myrtle ”Nanny” King, Port Hastings; her Uncle Mike and Aunt Cheryl Briggs, her cousins who were more like brothers Adam, Andrew and Evan all of Port Hawkesbury; her Uncle, godfather and friend Steve Briggs, Cleveland; her Aunt Brenda and Uncle Bob MacEachern, her cousins Cameron , Heather and Courtney, all of Port Hastings; her godmother “Aunty” Beth Dobson, Port Hawkesbury; special Aunt Jo Ann and Uncle Jack Armitage, St. Georges Channel; her proud Great-Aunt Judy Hill, Scotland and her special friend Colton Carroll, West Bay Road. She will also be remembered by family and friends throughtout Canada, United Kingdom and the USA. Niki was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Joan Briggs and her paternal grandfather Leonard King.
Visitation will be Friday 2-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Rev. Sheldon LeGrow officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial at a later date in Grantville Cemetery, Grantville. Family flowers only please.
