GILLIS, Agnes … 84, Stewartdale, Invernes, Co., passed away peacefully Tuesday April, 15, 2008 in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Boston, Mass., she was a daughter of the late John Archie MacKinnon and Annie MacLellan. Agnes lived in Dedham, Massachusetts for many years where she worked at Sturgess Aluminum. She moved home to Cape Breton where she worked as a homemaker. She enjoyed baking and playing cards. She was always baking treats for her family and friends. Agnes was a member of Stewart United Church, Whycocomagh. She is survived by her twin sister Irene Austin, Whycocomagh; niece Sharon Delaney, Whycocomagh; nephew Vernon Austin, Port Hawkesbury; five grand nieces and grand nephews; five very special great-grand nieces Taryn, Jordan, Cameron, Brynn and Kendall. She will be sadly missed by her special grand niece Shannon MacDonald, who spent many hours day and night sitting by her hospital bed and looking after her when she was at home. She was predeceased by her husband Lauchlin, foster parents Lauchlin L. and Euphemia MacKinnon and brother-in-law Robert Austin Jr. Visitation will be 2-9pm Sunday, April 20 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service will be 11am Monday, April 21 at Stewart United Church with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Burial in Stewartdale Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Stewart United Church.
