“Our Precious Angel”
George, Marlene Joan -- Half Way Cove, Born Sept. 15, 1960, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 15th, 2008, after a courageous battle with colorectal cancer.
Born in Queensport, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Viola (Jamieson) O’Leary. Left to mourn are beloved husband of 31 years Blair, sons Jason (Adrienne), Fall River and Jeffrey (Karen) of Half Way Cove, Nanny’s precious Granddaughters Jocelyn and Addison George of Fall River. Also sadly missed by her special “boys” Gus and Choco and her beloved whales. Also surviving are 6 sisters, Barbara (Derrick Crosby), Burlington; Alice (Harold Hendsbee), Queensport; Sandra (Wayne Ettinger), Brooklyn; Winnie (Ernie Prosper), Charlottetown; Margo (Bernard Farrell), Newport Corner; Doreen (Ronald Boudreau), Little Dover; 3 brothers Kenneth, Queensport; Willard (Lorraine), Canso; Eldon (Honey), Half Island Cove.
She is also mourned by many nieces and nephews who loved her very much and looked forward to family reunions and visits to her home.
Surviving also are Mother-in-law Joan George and extended in-Law Family.
Marlene was an employee of Canada Post Boylston Office.
Together with Blair she fought to have the drug Avastin paid for by the government and part of that battle was won. Her wish was to help somebody else have the life she fought so hard for.
Visitations for Marlene will be in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough, from 7 … 9 PM Sunday and 2-9 PM Monday with funeral service at 2 PM Tuesday, St James Church, Half Way Cove, Rev. Tory Byrne and Rev. Dennis Hayward officiating. Reception to follow in Chedabucto Fire Dept., Queensport. On-Line condolences may be made to the family at www.haverstocks.com.
