Russell, Carol Ann - It is with our heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Anne Russell on December 17, 2021 at the young age of 48. Born in Inverness on November 27th, 1973 to Roderick Googoo and the late Jeanette Prosper. She was also predeceased by her maternal grandparents; the late Joseph and Susan Prosper, stepmother Martha and paternal grandparents Gordon and Christie Ann Googoo. She was also predeceased by her uncles; John Prosper (godfather), Howard Prosper and Gordon Googoo. Aunts; Muriel, Mary, Sandra Prosper and Mary Rose Googoo. She will forever be remembered by her vivacious, loving and caring nature which reflected in her unforgettably loud and contagious laugh. Carol loved the waters whether it was canoeing, fishing, hiking, camping or painting. She was extremely proud of a rock that she painted with the hearts of the 215 children that were found at the residential school in Kamloops B.C., which is on display at the Nova Scotia Legislature office in Halifax. She was also proud of her culture (Mi’kmaw) heritage. During her short stay with us she had accomplished a lot and was the youngest 60 scooper from Nova Scotia. She leaves behind her partner of numerous years Robert Robinson and her children Joshua Russell (Halifax), Toni Tessier (Truro), Niomi Russell (Sydney) and Lucas Russell (Spryfield) and her godchild Noel A Gwinn. She is also survived by her adopted parents David and Margo Russell of N.B., her godmother, Harriet Bernard, her stepmom, Dita Googoo. All her siblings; Gwenda, Theresa, Rhonda, Wasuek, Steven, Megan, Ryle, Terry, Rayana and Bella, adopted brothers; Peter and Kevin Russell, Uncles; Sandy and Gordon Googoo, step uncle Ray (Debbie)Walton, her aunts; Anna (Gerard)Farrell, Betty (late Stanley) Googoo, Muriel Knockwood, Brenda Prosper, Karen (Tiny) Cremo, Charlotte (David) Kennedy, Eva (Jeff) Webster, Margauerite (Sean)Terry along with numerous family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 21 from 2-7 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury on Saturday, January 22 at 10a m. with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating.
Mask and proof of double vaccaines are mandatory. Photo ID is also reguired. Proof must be shown at both venues.
