DOUCETTE, Joseph Frederick Henry- 70, West Bay Marshes, on Wednesday, March 12th, 2008, we lost a loving husband, devoted father, and caring grandfather; when Joseph Frederick Henry Doucette passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Joe was born on March 24th, 1937 in Ingonish Cape Breton. He joined the navy in 1959, and subsequently worked for the Coast Guard, Canmar, Dome Petroleum, Wreck Cove Project, aboard numerous vessels, and retired from the Nova Scotia Clam Company. Joe was an outgoing friendly person who enjoyed a conversation with everyone he met. He played a good game of crib, he always had a joke ready to share, and he crafted many beautiful wood projects over the years. Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wilena (Hines); son Arthur (Rev. Connie McNamara); daughter Jane and grandson Joey Doucette; daughter Lesa (Jason McHugh); grandchildren Noah, Seth, and Jacob Doucette, and Mya McHugh; twin sister Mary (Albert Doyle) and sister Leona Dunphy; chosen son Christopher Morrison; and many neices and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Lucy (Devonish) Doucette; sisters Jean, Rose, and Honey; and brothers Buddy and Tommy. Visitation will take place at Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with funeral mass at St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church, West Bay Road, on Friday March 14th at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a fund for Joe's grandchildren.
