Nickerson, George Frederick "Ted" Truro formerly of Canso. With broken hearts we the family of George Frederick "Ted" Nickerson announce his passing at the age of 99 on Tuesday, Dec. 09, 2020 in Cedar Stone Enhanced Care, Truro, where he has resided for the past several years. He had a long and happy life and now goes to be with the love of his life, Flo (our mom). He lived in Canso for many years working as a fish cutter at the local fish plant. He also worked as a custodian at the nearby Hazel Hill Rest Home, were he retired from. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his children, John (Lillian), Canso; Irene (Richard), Hantsport; Gail, Dartmouth; Karen (Clarence), Port Williams; Irv (Maxine), Union Centre. Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held today, (Friday, December 11) from 3-7 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, December 12 from Canso United Baptist Church, Rev. David Wheeler officiating. Burial in Fourth Hill Cemetery following the service. Family flowers only. Memorial donations in memory of Ted may be made to Canso United Baptist Church. In keeping with Covid-19 guidelines, all attendees will be asked to provide their names and telephone numbers upon arrival at the funeral home and the church. Social distancing protocols are to be followed and masks are mandatory. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at Colchester East Health Centre for the compassionate care given to our dad. Also, a thank you too the staff at Cedar Stone (Chapel Court), for the wonderful care given to our Dad over the last several years.
