Thorneycroft, Gerald Norman – St. George’s Channel Gerry was born January 1, 1934 in Swift Current, Sask. As a young Gerry joined the RCAF to become a pilot like his older brother Ken. At 19 years of age, he flew the F-86 Sabre, the highlight of his flying career. He often said "you don’t fly the Sabre you wore it!" In Edmonton, he married Bernice (Berni) Morrison. Gerry then joined the RAF in Yorkshire, England and eventually returned to Canada and worked until he retired in 1998. Gerry and Bernice returned to Bernice’s birth place, Cape Breton Island to a relaxing retirement. Gerry passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at home. He was predeceased by his wife, Bernice, his brothers, Ken, Robert and his granddaughter, Laura. Gerry is survived by daughter, Cathy (Brian Graham), son, Ken, sister, Joan (Dave Parsons) and grandsons, Rory and Eric Graham. As per Gerry’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service.
