PROCTOR, Florence – Port Hawkesbury, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in St. Peter’s she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Chisholm) MacKenzie. She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Merven; daughters, Angela Proctor, Virginia, USA; Cathy (Alan Chandler), Chester; Jennifer, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Merven, Allison, Matthew and Mark. She is also survived by sisters, Jean Gilmore (Joe), Alice Christina (Burt), Marjorie VanDooremalen; brother, Angus MacKenzie (Barbara). She was predeceased by brother, John MacKenzie; sister, Mary Schiek. Florence grew up in St. Peter’s and was very proud of her family and heritage. She was also a long-time volunteer for the Strait Richmond Hospital Auxiliary. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation for the care and compassion of the staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital and the Palliative Homecare Team. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Monday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St. Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Face masks and social distancing protocals will be in place for the visitation and funeral mass. You will be required to provide your name and phone number for both. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
