CLEARY, Ronald Hugh - 57, Lower Sackville, formerly of Guysborough Intervale, passed away peacefully after a brief illness January 18, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was the son of Hugh and Marion (MacPherson) Cleary.
Ron loved to work with his hands and was able to build anything his children wanted, including doghouses and sandboxes. He always told others how proud he was of his wife and children and he was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first grandchild. Ron graduated from Canso Regional Vocational School in 1971 and worked as a licensed carpenter with A. LaPaix & Son Ltd. for over 35 years.
Ron is survived by wife, Sharon (Simpson); daughter, Rhonda (Tony) Pilon, Mount Uniacke; son, Ryan (Maureen), Grande Prairie, Alta.; sisters, Dianne (Raymond) MacEachern, Havre Boucher; Sandra (John) Lynn, New Glasgow; Carolyn (Jimmy) Fougere, Sherwood Park, Alta.; Janet (Charlie) Steele, Halifax; Jacqueline (Mark) Brinsmead, Ottawa, Ont.; brother, Gary (Hazel) Cleary, Guysborough Intervale; many nieces and nephews, and best friends, John and Gerry. He was predeceased by his father, Hugh; his infant brother, Jerome, and his in-laws, Eugene and Sophie Simpson.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Monday, January 21, in Atlantic Funeral Home, Lower Sackville, then 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home in Guysborough. A celebration of Ron's life will be held Wednesday, January 23, at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough Intervale, Father Jonathan Nweke officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in Ron's memory may be made to the QEII Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
