CAMERON, Roy Dennison - 91, of Port Hood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2009, in Inverary Manor Nursing Home, Inverness. Born in Port Hood, he was the son of the late Fred and Viola (MacKenzie) Cameron. Roy was a veteran of the Second World War and the Korean Conflict. He served with the Highland Light Infantry of Canada during the Second World War and with the Queens' Own Rifles during the Korean Conflict. In 1955, he returned home and worked on the family farm, and cut pulpwood until his retirement. He was a quiet man, an avid reader, and hunter. For the past four and a half years he resided in the Inverary Manor where he was well cared for by the compassionate management and staff. He is survived by brother, David (Beatrice), New Glasgow; sister, Cora Guest, Glencoe Station; sons, Wilson (Alexina), Craigmore; George (Margie), Port Hood; Norman (Ann-Marie), Lower Sackville; daughters, Elva (Don) Fitzgerald, Yarmouth; Ruth (Joe MacInnis), Lake Ainslie; and 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Davis); sisters, Jean Gratto, Edna Boucher.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, in Port Hood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 12, in St. Stephen's United Church, Port Hood, with Rev. Roger Moore officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen's United Church, Inverary Manor, or charity of choice.
