Carter, George Joseph - 59, Carstairs, Alberta/ Sampsonville, Richmond Co. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George after a short battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Didsbury Hospital, Didsbury, Alberta. Born April 11, 1949 in Sampsonville, he was the son of George and the late Genevieve (Sampson) Carter. He was an Industrial Electrician by trade. In his leisure time he was an avid fisherman, camper and hunter but most of all he loved playing guitar with his family and many friends. He is survived by his former wife Pauline (LaRade), Cheticamp; daughter Rhonda (Darcy) Landry, Halifax; sisters, Sylvia (Ken) Gray, Saint John, NB; Georda (Richie) Boyd, Maureen (Leonard) Whitty, Gail (George) Landry, all of Sampsonville; Glenda (David) Sampson, River Bourgeois; Cheryl (Donny) Richards, Hammonds Plains; brothers, Clifford (Debbie), Byron (Jamie), Darren (Gloria) all of Sampsonville; Clayton (Cathy), Lower Sackville; and his many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his brother Carl and sister Sharon.
At George’s request a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Lakeside Community Center, Sampsonville beginning at 4 p.m. Donations in memory of George may be made to the Nelson Burke Memorial Bursary or a charity of choice.
