CLEARY, Gregory Thomas — 92, of Guysborough Intervale, passed away peacefully Friday, July 3, 2009 in the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough, with his loving family by his side. He was born and lived his entire life in Guysborough Intervale. He was the son of the late Thomas and Catharine (Connolly) Cleary. Greg was an avid woodsman and Christmas tree grower. He will always be remembered for his hard work, generosity, and keen sense of humour. Greg was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, Guysborough Intervale.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Clara Downey of 64 years; daughters, Mary Auldeen of Scarborough, ON., Marilyn (Blake) Higgins of Fonthill, ON., Sharon (Scott) Hart of Port Shoreham, Grace (Louis) MacDonald of Ardness, Cathy (Dave) Wyatt of Stouffville, ON., Gwen (Larry) Matasege of Jordan, ON., Paulette (Charles) Nussey of Chezzetcook; sons, Duane (Phoebe) of Guysborough Intervale, Brian of Winnipeg, Man., Leo of Boylston, Jack of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., Jerome (Nicole) of Calgary, Alta.; brother, Arthur of Winnipeg, Man.; sisters, Ethel Murphy of Halifax; and Alice Walsh of Halifax; 22 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sons, Owen and David; infant daughter, Eva Clare.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough Intervale with Father Jonathan Nweke and Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Milford Haven Home for Special Care or the Guysborough Memorial Hospital Auxillary. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
