Edith Hubley 'Edy' (MacLeod) Cluett
1922 - 2021
On Wednesday, December 22, 2021, we mourned the passing of our mother, Edith Hubley (MacLeod) Cluett, 99, of Port Hawkesbury. Edith "Edy" passed peacefully at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish.
Born in North Sydney on November 1, 1922, Edy was the daughter of the late Melvin and Mabel (Hayman) MacLeod. She met and married Arthur Cluett of Sydney Mines during WWII. After the war, they lived throughout Nova Scotia, following Art’s banking career and raising their five children before making their final stop in Port Hawkesbury in 1962. Edy is fondly remembered by her family. She was an elegant, gracious, loving, and generous lady. She welcomed all that visited her home with an open heart and lived life with a vibrant sense of humour and a fun-loving spirit. Edy was a member of St. Mark’s United Church for over 60 years.
Besides her parents, Edy was pre-deceased by her husband, Art and twin sons, Robert "Bob" and William "Bill"; brothers, Wallace "Wally", Murray "Mick"; sister, Ruth.
Edy is survived by sons, Rick (Anne), Doctor’s Brook; Dave (Nancy), Port Hawkesbury; daughter, Cora (Paul Dignan), Elmira, Ontario. She is also survived by grandchildren, Sara Cluett Proctor, Jenny MacKenzie and Allan Cluett, Kim Cluett and Ian Cluett, Genevieve Maleyko, Matt Cluett and Oliver Cluett, and Olivia Dignan, as well as great grandchildren Ava, Angus and Emelia Proctor, Emily and Mikey Maleyko, Duncan, Iris and Archie MacKenzie, Jenna Cluett, Ellie, Max and Ethan Cluett, Élodie Cluett, as well as many nieces and nephews.
