Catherine Genevieve ‘Jenny’ Currie January 4, 1942 - January 11, 2022 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jenny Currie age 80 of Port Hawkesbury, on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in The Admiral Long Term Home, Dartmouth. Born in New Waterford, Jenny was the eldest child of the late Henry Cormier and Kay Philpott (Desveaux). Jenny was well known in the community, she made many acquaintances through her love of TOPS, The Red Hats Society, Bowling (as per her wishes she is getting buried in her bowling shoes) and her friends at the Tim Hortons in Auld’s Cove. Jenny and her late husband Elmer operated Currie’s Burner Service in the community for a number of years. She will be fondly remembered for her acts of kindness, her witty sense of humor, her "Jennyisms" and her genuine love of people. She was born to be on the road and known for her many drives around the community of Cape Breton Island with anybody who would tag along. She would tell stories of the people, a "who's who", who they married, where they worked, how many children they had, and how many children their children had etc. When she wasn’t on the road Jenny enjoyed knitting, sewing and playing cards. Jenny was known for her many "lists" that kept her very busy and are still a work in progress, "OH WELL…". She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer; her father, Henry Cormier; mother, Kay (Desveaux) Philpott; step-father, Leo Philpott; and brother, Cyril Cormier (Donie). Jenny is survived by her children, Joe (Colleen), Robert (Marlene), and Michael; grandchildren; Tavnor, Vicky, Kourtney, Makayla and Michelle; siblings; Simone Baglole (Len), Lenora Morrison (Stu), Kathleen "Squib" Cormier, Phillip Cormier (Pat), Robert "Bubba" Cormier (Janie), William "Willie" Cormier, Bernard "Bim" Cormier (Kathy), Paul Kevin "Red" Cormier (Valerie), Pauline Burke (Vernon) and special sister Betty MacNeil. As well as many nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly. Cremation has taken place.
