O’BRIEN, Marjorie Frances – 82, West Bay, Richmond, Co., died Friday July, 25, 2008 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Gloucestershire, England, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and Lilly Elizabeth (Evans) Spencer.
A 38 year resident of West Bay and lifelong community volunteer, Marjorie was retired from the Dundee Golf Resort where she worked as a cook. She was a member of West Bay United Church, serving as a steward, an elder and choir member for many years. Marjorie was a Veteran of the Second World War where she served in the Royal Navy. She was a War Bride who came to Canada in 1948. A member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, St. Peter’s and the West Bay Dart League, Marjorie enjoyed playing cards and was famous for her pies.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jack; daughters Jean (Sandy) MacDonald, Port Hawkesbury, Mary (Edmund) Tucker, Dartmouth; sons Michael (Evelyn), Windsor, Daniel (Patricia), Winnipeg, Man.; brother Jack (Dorothy), Gloucestershire, England; grandchildren Sean, Kathleen, Jonathan, David, Mary, Sasha, Andrea, Ian; 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 7-9pm Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9pm Monday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday in West Bay United Church with K. Wayne Yorke D.L.M. officiating. Burial in West Bay Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
