ROBAR, Marjorie Fay -- 77, of Canso, surrounded by her loving family, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 28th 2009, at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born April 14th, 1932, in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Willard & Arlean Garber. Marjorie was predeceased by loving companion Eugene Richards & brother, Gerald Garber. She will be greatly missed by her son Brian (Margot) Robar; Halifax, granddaughters Lauren & Kristine, & sister, Shirley Whynot; Oak Hill, N.S. Moving to Halifax in the early 60’s, Marjorie was employed for 26 years as a personal care worker at both the Willow & Halifax Nursing Homes. In 1987, Marjorie & Eugene’ moved to Canso to enjoy their retirement & she was always deeply moved by the warm welcome & friendship extended by Eugene’s family & friends. Marjorie’s great love was her granddaughters & she followed the milestones in their lives with great interest. The family wish to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff and physicians on 6.4 CCU for their outstanding compassion and care.
Funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church in Canso on Monday May 25th at 1:00PM, with Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. Burial will follow at Star of the Sea cemetery. A reception will be held at the Shamrock Club following the service. At Marjorie’s request, memorial donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. The funeral is under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
