BURNS, Daniel Angus “Dannie”- 76, MacIntyre Lake, Inverness County, died Thursday, February, 28, 2008 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Dan Willie and Marion (MacKay) Burns.
He was a member of Princeville United Church. Dannie was a heavy equipment operator employed with Zutphen Brothers Construction of Port Hood. He enjoyed camping, fishing, attending Strait Pirates games and was well known for his berry picking. Dannie also enjoyed his grandchildren. Dannie was also a member of Local 721 Operating Engineers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Sheila (MacLean); daughter Shelma (Mike) Ryan, Pleasant Hill; sons Dana (Cathy), Port Hastings, Jerry, New Glasgow; half brother Joe (Ruth) Ganaway, Fourchu; grandchildren Crystal, Jenna, Kyle, Trevor, Kristen, Jayme, Ashleigh; great grandchildren Reannah, Nolan, Maggie; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brother Michael, sisters Effie Martin, Tena Ruggles.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9pm today in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury from where the funeral service will be held 2pm Sunday with Rev. Gordon MacDermid officiating, assisted by Rev. Murdock MacRae. Burial in Southbrook Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
