Bissonnette, Roland Joseph … 87, Port Hawkesbury, passed away Friday August 21, 2009 in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Born in Saint … Camille de Bellechasse, Quebec, he was a son of the late William and Yvonne (Roy) Bissonnette. Roland owned and operated the family saw mill business, then sold recreational campers, trailers, boats, lawn mowers, power saws, snow mobiles, mercury outboard motors. For many years he was employed with the Department of Highways working at the toll booth, Canso Causeway, retiring as a supervisor. Roland was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, Port Hawkesbury and Cape Nova Council 7924 KOC. He is survived by step son Barry (Kathleen) MacMaster, Port Hawkesbury; sister in law Jessie Bissonnette, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren Robb, Jessica, Sam, Raymond and Michael; many nieces and nephews. Roland is predeceased by wife Angela (Mac Master); brothers Lionel and Adrian; nephew J.W. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, with a vigil service at 2:15 p.m. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Roland may be made to St. Joseph's Cemetery Fund or a charity of choice.
