Blair, Wayne Robert - 64, Port Hawkesbury, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010 in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Windsor, Ontario, he was a son of the late William Ernest and Gladys (Burton) Blair. Wayne joined the Royal Canadian Navy, as a Boatswain, July 3, 1963 and retired from there March 25, 1978 as a P2bn. Wayne was an instructor at NSCC, Nautical School, Port Hawkesbury, for 27 years, retiring in December 2009. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury. He is survived by his wife, Linda (Blackburn), son, Shamus Alexander Blair, Fredericton, NB; step-son, Anthony Blackburn (fiancée Heather MacDonald), and granddaughter, Lily Blackburn, Antigonish. He was predeceased by his parents and his ex-wife, Sarena (McLeod).
There will be no visitation by Wayne’s request. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, February 27, in Port Hawkesbury United Baptist Church, with Pastor Chris Greer officiating. Reception to follow at the Church. At Wayne’s request there will be an “Irish Wake” at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury, Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Wayne's memory to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
