MacLean, Ruth Isobel – Age 84, River Denys, Inverness Co.It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of Ruth Isobel MacLean of River Denys on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 in the Inverary Manor, Inverness with her family by her side. Ruth was born in Sydney on February 13, 1936.She was a daughter of the late George Archibald "Happy" and Sadie (MacPherson) Keefe. She is survived by her husband of 65 years and best friend, Bernie; daughter, Elaine (Gary MacInnis), Inverness, NS; son, Rob (Phyllis), Whycocomagh, NS; cherished grandchildren, Angela (Rodney) Matheson, Calgary, AB; Jesse MacLean and Ali MacLean, Whycocomagh, NS; great-grandchildren, Hudson and Kennedy Matheson; sisters, Norma MacDonald, Tewksbury, Mass; Judy Warren, Toronto, ON; Phyllis Morrison, Dartmouth, NS; Coleen MacPherson, Hamilton, ON. Besides her parents Ruth was predeceased by siblings, Charlotte Gately, Peggy Keefe and Jack MacPherson. She had a great career in music, starting with the Cape Breton Jamboree on CJCB to her appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. Continuing her musical career with her husband Bernie by her side, they played many stages in the U.S. and Canada. They performed nightly for 23 years at the Blue Angel Café in Montreal, Quebec. They retired from music and returned to their beloved Cape Breton where they owned and operated MacLean’s General Store for many years. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Inverary Manor, Dr. Susie Egar, Lori Ann MacDonald, Paulette Levin and Dr. John Ritter for their kind and compassionate care. Special thanks also to her workers with Inverness County Homecare for their care and comfort. Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will take place at a later date.
