Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
MacLean, Joan - Age 86 years, West Alba. Passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 in Alderwood Rest Home, Baddeck. Born in West Alba, she was a daughter of the late Duncan and Mary (MacDonald) Kennedy.
She worked as a cook at the Highland Heights Inn in Iona for 25 years until she retired. She enjoyed her small family farm, preserving, making butter and jam and sewing. She was very passionate about genealogy and was a wealth of information about remembering names, dates and historical details. Many people would turn to her for help on looking for information on their ancestors and Joan enjoyed telling stories from years past. In her younger years she attended Teachers College in Truro and was employed at several one room schools, until she stayed home to raise her family. She dearly loved the company of children.
