GAGNON, Marcel Joseph – 86, St. Peter’s, formerly of L’Ardoise. We are saddened to announce the passing of our father, Marcel Joseph Gagnon, in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston with his daughters by his side on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Dad was born on March 12, 1935, in L’Ardoise. In his early years, dad worked as a heavy equipment operator, then went on to work as custodian at the L’Ardoise Consolidated School. Dad worked hard to provide for his family. He took great pride in his family, especially his five grandsons and making sure his lawn was always maintained. He also enjoyed making his daily "rounds" in L’Ardoise. Surviving are his children, Bernard (Shelly), L’Ardoise; Madeline (Ewan), Lower L’Ardoise; Jenny (Ben), Spryfield; 5 grandsons, Bradley, Josh, Cameron, Dylan and Mark; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Joe, Mallory, Maddison and Summer; he is also survived by sister, Rita, L’Ardoise. He was predeceased by his wife, Emerise on March 7, 2021, and son, Ambrose in 2002; sisters, Claire, Evangeline in infancy, Anna and Theresa; brothers, Paul, Joseph, Roger and Gaston. We would like to thank the wonderful nurses at the Strait Richmond Renal Dialysis Unit, where he was a patient for almost 7 years. Also, to Dr. DeRoach and the Palliative Care team. As per dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service for mom and dad will be 10 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 from Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, L'Ardoise. If you so wish, memorial donations can be made to L’Ardoise Fire Dept., L’Ardoise Cemetery Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
