Matheson, Arnold Stuart – age 81, Whycocomagh. It is with much love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Arnold Stuart Matheson on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish. Born in Glace Bay, he was a son to the late John and Annie (MacKenzie) Matheson.
Having worked as a laboratory technician at Georgia Pacific for 43 years, Arnold was also a faithful and dedicated member of Sircom Lodge #66 A.F. & A.M. for 56 years. He was Master of Sircom Lodge in 1973, and held most offices including secretary, deacon, warden and he was currently serving as chaplain. In the past he also served as a District Deputy Grand Master. He was a proud member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and choir and was a member of the Causeway Shrine Club.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Laddie (MacDonald); son, Aaron (Erica), Calgary; grandsons Alexander D., Samuel A, both of Calgary, Donald Paine, Nelson, BC; brothers John Allister, Blues Mills, Norman Roy (Marybelle), Little Narrows; sister-in-law Anna Matheson, Little Narrows; nieces and nephews, Kenzie, Sheldon, Paul, Evelyn, Florence, Rodney and Ashley. Besides his parents, Arnold was predeceased by his brother, Donald Wallace "DW" and sister-in-law Marion Matheson.
Visitation and funeral service will take place at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Whycocomagh or to a charity of your choice.
